New Releases: April 22, 2022: Audrey Horne

AUDREY HORNE BACK WITH ALBUM NUMBER SEVEN AUDREY HORNE - DEVIL'S BELL Audrey Horne is a Norwegian band has been at it for two decades. They are a band that I would classify as "new to me."A few months back I was sent the promo video for the album's title track. The call back to the NWOBHM, specifically Iron Maiden caught my ear immediately. So I posted the track on my Patreon page, to see if my Patrons were into the track as well. The best thing about Devil's Bell, is yes, the title track does sound like Maiden. But none of the other tracks sound like it was influenced by the British band. Sure there are things here and there, but the rest of the album really varies. It's without a doubt, all hard rock. But, some of it feels like Thin Lizzy, some like Y&T. A little 70s and 80s hard rock, with some modern production so as to not make the album sound totally retro, or dated.The album is pretty solid top to bottom. Up until then, I had heard songs by the band here and there that I liked. But their full-length albums were missing something.I often say this, they didn't release anything that was bad by any stretch of the imagination. But in my opinion, they hadn't lived up to all of the hype that had been placed on the band. But I get it, in 2009 when they released their self-titled debut album, it was a big deal for someone like Lzzy Hale to break on through as a hard rock artist. A female frontwoman that could sing and play the way she could. Comparisons to other icons were inevitable and merited.In the underground rock and metal scenes, you still had females fronting bands. New Releases: March 25, 2022 - Dream Widow

PROBOT II? DREAM WIDOW -  DREAM WIDOW Fans of Dave Grohl's (metal) work have been clamoring for a second Probot album since the star-studded self-titled album dropped eighteen years ago. The Foo Fighters had been dabbling in various "side projects" these past few years, like the Dee Gees'  Hail Satin  album. At the time I thought, this is cool, but man I'd love to hear the Foos do something heavier. The last great album released by the band in my opinion was 2011's  Wasting Light . There has been good music released by them since, but not quite on the same level. Once they announced their horror movie,  Studio 666  would be released alongside an album that would fit the mood of the project, I began to hope.
